11. Peter Seabridge House

A two-story, three-by-four bay, salt-box style wood-frame dwelling.
The building now sheathed with vinyl siding retains its original
Greek Revival style side entrance and some it its original
six-over-six light sash.
Peter Seabridge was primarily a merchant
(storekeeper and businessman) in Coeymans
Landing during the mid-19th century. He was
one of the village's leading commercial
figures and helped found the Coeymans
Academy in 1858 alongside Fletcher Blaisdell
and Theophilus Civill.
Records also show that Seabridge was
involved in the Hudson River brick industry.
Brick manufacturing listings for Coeymans
identify "Peter Seabridge" as a brick
manufacturer/operator from about 1850-1864,
indicating that he had interests beyond
mercantile trade.
In local histories and business directories
of Coeymans Landing, Peter Seabridge is
consistently associated with:
General merchandising and commercial
activities.
Civic and educational leadership (Coeymans
Academy founder).
Investment in local industry, including
brick making.
His house on Westerlo Street was one of the
prominent residences in the Landing and
