23. Eugene Gould House

1883
A finely crafted, two and one-half story, wood-frame Stick style
dwelling. The "T" plan building is covered by jerkin headed roofs
and sheathed with a variety of narrow wood clapboard, stick-work
panels and fish-scale shingles. Original two-over-two sash survive
throughout the building, as do the original wood panel doors and
louvered shutters. A Colonial Revival style porch was added to the
home in the early twentieth century.
Carriage barn
A ca. 1890 one and one-half story, wood-frame carriage barn is
situated on the property south of the house.
This building was built to the same plans as the W.E. Holmes House
located at 7 First Street.
