43. Jonathan McElroy House
In the spring of 1878, Levi Blaisdell 2 began preparations to replace the older barns on his Coeymans farm with what would become one of the most extraordinary agricultural structures ever built in Albany County. The immense new barn, measuring 60 by 100 feet at its limestone foundation, was entrusted to the hands of master carpenter and framer Jonathan McElroy of Coeymans, whose reputation for precision timber framing was already widely respected throughout the Hudson Valley.
