The Atlantic Light & Power Company was a historical utility that operated in the early 1900s, providing electricity to the Coeymans, Ravena, and New Baltimore areas. It was established by John N. Briggs, an Coeymans entrepreneur who also operated Hudson River ice plants, coal businesses, and Baerena Park. In addition to the utility company, Briggs developed nearby Barren Island into the immensely popular "Baerena Park" in the late 1800s, featuring a Ferris wheel and a large covered dance platform, which locals accessed via steamboat ferry from Coeymans Landing.
